The 2012 McDonough Leadership Conference

Conference Date: April 13-15, 2012

Location: Marietta College Campus

Leadership has emerged in recent decades as a major field of study in higher education. Today, many colleges and universities offer exciting curricular and co-curricular programs in Leadership Studies – challenging their students to develop their leadership skills in preparation for a life of purpose and engagement. In this spirit of intellectual exploration, self-reflection and personal leadership development, the McDonough Leadership Center at Marietta College hosted  the 2012 McDonough Leadership Conference.  This event brought together students, scholars, and practitioners interested in sharing their scholarly work and leadership development insights with a wider audience.




Conference Themes

The 2012 conference exploreed insights and best practices in the following themes:

  • Leadership and Entrepreneurship
  • Women in Leadership
  • Nonprofit Leadership
  • Global Leadership


Types of Sessions

  • Undergraduate/graduate student sessions (panels with paper presentations) – original research, literature review, report from field experience.
  • Faculty/staff/practitioners sessions (workshops, roundtable discussions) – interactive sessions, hands-on activities, information exchange.
  • Poster session for undergraduate students.
